Too many people (especially men) attach their identity to their jobs and careers.
I have spoken to several men where I was the first person they told they were let go (after several months) - they hadn’t even told their wives!
Honestly, I have a lot of empathy for people in this situation. But here is the reality check...Just because you are amazing at what you do, doesn’t mean you are amazing at finding a job doing what you do. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE.
But here is the problem, most people wind up out of work, slap together a resume, hit the job boards, submit to as many relevant positions as possible, and then wait.
….and wait….and wait.
Just when their self-confidence is at its lowest, they can’t get anyone or any company to give them the time of day.
It’s sad because it is not their fault. The fact they are getting a response most likely has NOTHING to do with them, their qualifications, or ability to do the job.
The real reason they’re struggling is because they are not following a system or process that works with today’s world.
